I have been thinking a lot about this very subject. With so many children in our schools being diagnosed with ADHD do we really know and understand what it is. As teachers are we prepared with enough knowledge about this in order to make sure that we are meeting the needs of students with ADHD, As I though about it more and more I realized that I really had just a basic foundation and understanding of how to work with ADHD students and a even bigger desire to understand the science behind it so that I could make my instruction and accommodation more meaningful to the students. So this months focus is going to be on ADHD and the science behind it. From there we will look at how to used the new knowledge that we learned to increase our instruction, make accommodations that are more appropriate and help the student to be successful in any setting.
